Virgil L. McCammack's Obituary
Decatur – Virgil Leland McCammack, 90, of Decatur, IL, passed away 05/19/2015 in the comfort of his home.
Virgil was born November 25, 1924 in Fayette County, IL, the son of Robert (Ernie) and Cleta McCammack. Virgil was an Army Veteran, and he retired in 1986 from Painters Local 288. In his younger days he had a passion for flying PT19 aircraft. Virgil enjoyed being with family and friends. He especially loved his Wednesday evenings having dinner at the Diamonds restaurant. When Virgil had an opportunity he would go out to hear the bluegrass music of the Cactus Ranch band.
Virgil is survived by his two daughters, Vicki Hill (special friend Barney Camden) of Decatur, IL; Kathleen Wells (husband Jim) of Maroa, IL; seven grandchildren, Lora Allen (husband Scott), Nick Dodd, Lisa Davis-Christ (partner Amber), Stacey Wenskunas, Angie Maddox (husband Brandon), Lindsay Hammer (husband Josh) and Leslie Hornaday (husband Brad); thirteen great-grandchildren, Jessica, Johnny, Zachary, Jenessa, Mari, Tytus, Cael, Noah, Luke, Leah, Nola, Savannah and Lydia; and two bonus great-grandchildren Nick and Heather.
Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers (Forest, James, Cecil, Charles, and Robert) and one sister (Mary).

Funeral service to celebrate Virgil’s life will be 11 AM Friday, May 22, 2015 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park. Memorials are suggested to DMH Hospice. The family requests casual attire.
