Virginia Ann Blevins' Obituary
Virginia Ann Blevins, 71 of Litchfield, IL; ended her strong and brave battle with cancer at 1:00 pm Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at home surrounded by her family.
Virginia born was August 13, 1939 in Hillsboro, the daughter of Harley and Virginia Athey Root. She lived in Schram City, IL during her childhood. She and Carl Beck were married in 1961. He preceded her in death in 1967. Virginia later married John P. Blevins on May 2, 1970 in Hillsboro. She was employed as a laundry clerk for approximately 10 years at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Gillespie, IL and at Litchfield Health Care in Litchfield, IL. Virginia was an avid BINGO player, a very loving and caring person.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband of nearly 40 years John Blevins of Hornsby, IL; her sons Marvin Beck of Hillsboro, IL and Jeffrey Lisa Beck of Litchfield, IL; her daughters Kimberly Beck of Riverton, IL, Sherrie Lance Stout of Mulberry Grove, IL, Brenda Virgil Keeton Beck of Litchfield, IL; her brother Larry Root of Hillsboro, IL; her sisters Mary Ray of Donnellson, IL, Audrey Blevins of Hillsboro, IL, Joyce Jeff Chapman of Litchfield, IL and Lola Jim Watson of Donnellson, IL; ten grandchildren; one great granddaughter; her stepson Henry Belinda Blevins of Gillespie, IL; her stepdaughters Charlotte James Jones of Mt. Olive, IL, Virginia Voyles of Oklahoma City, OK, Rhoda Lonnie Gipson of Greenville, IL, Lois Turner of Wichita, KS, and Patty Keith Bond of Mt. Olive, IL; nine step-grandchildren; several step-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and one special niece Violet Blevins of Staunton, IL.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her infant sons Ronald Beck and George Blevins, her sister Nelda Cole, and her brothers Demoin Root and Eugene Dorf.
Funeral services to celebrate Virginia’s life will be 12:00 noon Friday, February 18, 2011 at the Litchfield Southern Baptist Church in Litchfield, IL with Pastor Rudy Elam officiating. Visitation will be from 11 – 12:00 noon at the church on Friday. Committal services will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro, IL. Memorial donations may be directed to Virginia’s Blanket Fund or to the wishes of the family.
