Virginia Ann "Ginger" Tomlinson's Obituary
Virginia Ann “Ginger” Tomlinson of Urbana passed away peacefully early Sunday morning December 28, 2014.
Services to celebrate Ginger’s life will be 11:30 a.m. Monday January 5, 2015 at First Baptist Church, 1602 S. Prospect Avenue, Savoy 61874. Pastor Randy Gauger will officiate. Visitation will be at the church 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m., Manns Chapel Cemetery, Alvin Illinois. Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, Decatur Illinois, will be handling arrangements.
Ginger was born November 14, 1939, Urbana Illinois. Ginger was the daughter of John Emery and Ida Elsa (Lester) Endsley. Tragically in 1942, Ida was killed in a car accident. Ginger was raised by her father, John Emery and his second wife, Hazel (Beals) Endsley. In December of 1957, Ginger graduated from Central High School, Champaign Illinois. Ginger was an active partner in all aspects of the operation of a large grain and livestock farm outside of Mahomet Illinois. Ginger then worked for several years for Humko Incorporated in Champaign Illinois. Next Ginger joined and worked for several years for the Teamsters Union Local 26 in Champaign Illinois. Ginger was then hired by the University of Illinois as a building service worker, later becoming a supervisor and retiring from the University of Illinois. Ginger co-owned G & G Antiques in Rossville Illinois. Ginger was very passionate about antiques and enjoyed searching for antiques for her store. Ginger, from an early age, was very active in her church. She was a member of the church choir, taught Sunday school, lead prayer groups, worked in the office. The most important thing in Ginger’s life was spending time with family and friends.
On April 16, 1983 Ginger Married Francis “Gene” Tomlinson in Mahomet Illinois. He preceded her in death on October 26, 2006. Ginger leaves behind son Bill (Jana) Perry of Gibson City. Grandchildren Dan Bell of Dayton Ohio, Kristen Kelley of Gibson City Illinois, Steve Bishop of Avon Indiana, Devinne Perry of Sidney Illinois. Great-Grand Children Kenzi “Ginger” Kelley of Gibson City Illinois, Gabriel Learned of Potomac Illinois, Peyton Bell of Dayton Ohio, Miles Learned of Potomac Illinois, Emery Perry Diev of Sidney Illinois. Ginger leaves behind son Chip (Lisa) Perry of Seymour Illinois, Grandchildren Kirsten Barbee of St. Joseph Illinois, Kelsey Barbee of Bloomington Illinois, Ross Perry of Champaign Illinois, and Payton Perry of Seymour Illinois. Nieces and Nephews Debbie Lewis of Dewey Illinois , Dianna Resor of Champaign Illinois, Donna Burnett of Champaign Illinois, John Endsley of Rochester Illinois, Doris Dunlap of Mahomet Illinois, Lester Endsley of Orlando Florida, Joyce Gasaway of La Porte Indiana, Gordon Gasaway of La Porte Indiana. Ginger Leaves behind Stepchildren Patricia Lanham of Alvin Illinois, James Tomlinson of Denver Iowa, Delores Tomlinson of Danville Illinois, Stephanie Pittman of Potomac Illinois. Ginger is preceded in death by her husband Gene, father John Endsley, birth mother Ida Endsley, mother Hazel Endsley, brother Emery Lester Endsley.
