Decatur ' Virginia C. Griffith, 88, of Decatur passed away on Monday, November 5, 2012 in Heartland Health Care Center.
Virginia was born on May 22, 1924 in Deland, IL the daughter of Wayne T. and Gertrude Mae (Conner) Churchill. She served her country proudly in U.S. Navy during WWII as radio decoder. She was a member of Central Christian Church. She worked for Signal Depot and Borg Warner. She was part owner of Star Market in Cerro Gordo and was a house mother for Alpha Chi Omega. She married James A. Griffith on October 14, 1964 in Cerro Gordo.
Surviving are her sister, Jean Booher (Clyde) of Decatur; nieces and nephews, Jane Davis of Snowflake, AZ; Julie Hettinger (Rick) of Decatur; Craig Booher (Jill) of Arlington, TX; Kent Booher (Merri) of Kokomo, IN; Lydia Spain (Kevin) of Decatur; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one sister, Lucretia Knauss.
Funeral Service to celebrate Virginia's life will be 11 AM Saturday, November 10, 2012 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be 9-11 AM Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Deland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Central Christian Church or Wounded Warrior Project.
