Virginia May Marion's Obituary
Virginia May Marion, 91, of Decatur, died on Wednesday evening, February 28, 2007, in St. Mary's Hospital.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am Saturday, March 3, 2007, at the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home where a visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories, Macon County Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Decatur Macon Animal Shelter or Homeward Bound Animal Pet Shelter.
Virginia was born October 2, 1915, in Decatur to Jennie Ethel and Henry Frank Woolen. She was a former member of Trueblood Memorial United Methodist Church and was retired from the Staley Research Laboratory. She married James W. Marion May 20, 1934 in Monticello, Illinois. He preceded her in death August 19, 1977.
Ginu, as she was fondly known by her family, celebrated her 90th birthday with a gala family gathering in Las Vegas.
Surviving are her children: Shirley Jagger and husband, James, of Castle Rock, Colorado; Marlin Felts and husband, Robert, of Decatur; James W. Marion, Jr., Albuquerque, New Mexico; Steven A. Tony Marion and wife, Heidi, of Decatur. Also surviving are ten grandchildren: Michael Jagger, Columbia, MO; Julie Jagger and Melissa Martin both of Denver, CO; Jennifer Shepherd, San Antonio, TX; Liane Stonecipher, Austin, TX; Kristi Marion, Anchorage, AK; Kendra Marion, Arizona; James W. Marion III, Bremerton, WA; Tony Marion, JR., and Lindsay Marion, both of Decatur; ten great-grandchildren; special cousin, Lorna Jean Morgan of Champaign.
She is also survived by her beloved dog, Samson.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and a sister.
