Virginia Therese Thompson's Obituary
Virginia Therese Thompson, 93, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 3:25 P.M. on Monday (08-18-2025) surrounded by family.
Virginia was born on April 17, 1932, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Thomas A. Keck and Beata E. (Lorenz) Keck. She married William E. Thompson on June 30, 1951, in Decatur, IL. He preceded her in death on July 5, 2016.
Virginia was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. She was very talented and artistic in many ways, including painting on canvas, arranging flowers, an avid gardener (especially with roses), cake decorator, and hairstylist.
She is survived by her children: William Thompson and wife Christine of Wichita, KS; Sharon Suttles, Mary Thompson, and Gerianne Thompson all of Decatur, IL; brothers: James Keck of CA; Donald Keck of Groveland, IL; William Keck of West Allis, WI; and John Keck of DeSoto, TX; sisters: Sylvia Daugherty of Decatur, IL; Marilyn Dechant of WA; Cathy Tokarz of Decatur, IL; nine grandchildren and host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons David and James, one daughter Teresa, three brothers Robert, Thomas, and Joseph, and three sisters Betty, Carolyn and Jean.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A. M. Tuesday (08-26-2025) at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church Decatur, IL, with visitation one hour prior to the service, The burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Decatur, IL.
Memorials may be made to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
