Decatur -Virginia May Tuttle, 87, of Decatur, IL died peacefully on Sunday, July 8, 2012 in Heartland Health Care.
Virginia was born on May 9, 1925 in Indianapolis, IN the daughter of George Wilbur and Grace May (Nicholson) Tuttle. She graduated in 1948 from St. Mary Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Gary, IN and later in 1965 earned a bachelor of science from Millikin University. She was a practicing nurse for 36 years, and was among the first cardiac care nurses at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
In addition to her parents, and her sister, Martha Ann Quackenbush, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, William Edward Tuttle..
She is survived by two children, Rebecca Dawn Claycamp (Gregg) of North Potomac, MD; George William Tuttle (Becky) of Decatur, GA; a niece, Jennifer Thompson of La Grange, TX; and two grandchildren, Kathryn Claycamp Uhrig and Benjamin Claycamp.
Honoring Virginia's wishes cremation will take place at Graceland/Fairlawn Crematory. Private burial will take place in White River Valley Cemetery in Medora, IN. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to a charity of your choice.
