Virt W. Neal's Obituary
Virt W. Neal, 84, departed this life on Saturday August 29, 2009 in Heartland Health Care Center.
Homegoing services will be 12:00 noon on Thursday September 3, 2009 in Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church 240 N. Edward Street, Decatur with Rev. Edd Jackson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the church. Burial will be 1:00 pm Friday in Washington Memory Gardens in Homewood, IL.
Virt was born on January 1, 1925 to the late Jackson Bond and Savannah Tyus Bond in Brownsville, TN. She was the fifth child of six girls and one boy. Her brother and four sisters preceded her in death. Her early days were spent in Brownsville, TN where she attended the Mercer Missionary Baptist Church and accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Upon completing her elementary and high school education she moved to Detroit, MI where she met and married Main Wills. She then moved to Buffalo, NY where she was employed at Western electric some 40 years where she retired from. She loved traveling. She traveled extensively in the United States and abroad. Then moving to Chicago she met and married the late Troy Neal. She united with Christ Temple Missionary Baptist Church under the direction of Pastor Rev. Arthur Taylor where she served faithfully until the death of her husband. Later she united with the Saint John Church-Baptist, where she served until moving to Forsyth, IL to live with her niece, Linnie and husband Jimmie in 2003. Here she united with the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the mother board until her health failed.
She leaves to cherish her memories sisters Savannah DeBerry of Brownsville, TN; and Dotlouis Reed of Chicago, IL; special nephew James Yvonne Jones of Tonawanda, NY; special niece, Linnie Jimmie Otis of Forsyth, special great niece Nakisha Hicks who helped care for during her illness and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Virt was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Troy Neal, one brother, Jackson Bond Sr. sisters, Eva Goodman, Maude Bond and Idella Johnson.
The family would like to thank Dr. Khan his staff and the staff at Heartland Health Care Center for all their care.
