Vivian Shofner Brosamer's Obituary
Vivian Shofner Brosamer, 67, of Decatur died on Monday February 17, 2003 in her home.
Funeral Mass will be 11 A.M. Saturday February 22, 2003 in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with Father Dennis Kollross officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in
J. J. Moran and Sons Funeral Home with a vigil prayer service at 4:30 p.m.. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Lincoln, Ill., at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials to: Habitat for Humanity P.O.Box 4112, Decatur, IL 62521 or St. Teresa Educational Foundation.
Vivian Joyce Shofner was born Sept. 12, 1935, in Greenup, Ill., the daughter of Oliver and Gladys Sherwood Shofner. She was a graduate of Cumberland High School and graduated with Honors from Springfield College in Illinois. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Vivian was an avid reader and master gardener who enjoyed needlepoint and other crafts. She was a loving caregiver and provider to her family. She married Lowell Brosamer on Dec. 28, 1957 in St. Mary's Church in Lincoln, Ill.
Surviving are her husband; son Peter Dawn Brosamer of Decatur; daughters Melissa Brosamer and friend Leonard Leach of Springfield; Laura Chris Brosamer-Senger of Decatur; Mary Sean Keohane of Canyon Country, Calif.;
Elizabeth Ariel Valdes of Countryside, Ill.; Jane Steve Allison of Decatur; and Sarah Brosamer of Decatur. Also surviving are her grandchildren Jessica, Alexander, and Mary Katherine Katie Brosamer-Senger; Blake, Jackson, and Madeline Allison; and Paxton Brosamer all of Decatur; and Gabriel, Sebastian, and Pilar Valdes of Countryside, Ill.
Surviving are her brother, Maurice Bette Shofner of Petersburg; sisters Ruby Hutson of Greenup; Vera Ed Ward of El Paso; Verna Bill Thomas of Morton; and Camelia Boyd of Ketchum, ID; and sister-in-law Buda Sherwood Shofner of Springfield.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, her parents and brother, Sherwood Shofner.
