Walter Franklin Arndt Jr.'s Obituary
Walter Franklin (“Lucky”) Arndt Jr., 77, passed away September 15, 2022 at Heritage Health Center in Mt. Zion, Illinois.
Lucky was born in Decatur, Illinois on June 1, 1945, the son of Walter F. and Julia Fern (Haws) Arndt Sr. He had several different occupations during his life, including delivering the Herald and Review newspapers and later delivering concrete for Travers. He had a passion for old cars and was especially proud of his 1952 Chevy sedan Delivery. He was a member of the Cruisin’ Roosters and Antique Car Clubs. He was an avid fan of westerns and knew every episode of Gunsmoke by heart. He married Sandy Feeney on July 24, 1966 in Decatur.
Lucky is survived by his sons John William “Johnny Bill” Arndt, Kelley Joseph “Kelley Joe” Arndt, and Jason Lynn Arndt, all of Decatur; sisters Patricia Beaman of Decatur and Verna “Shug” Adams of Moweaqua; grandchildren Blake Joseph Arndt and Rebecca Jane Arndt of Decatur; great-granddaughter Kirsten Lynch; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and siblings Buster Powell and “Cute Eyes” Dearman.
Visitation for Lucky will be held from 5pm to 8pm on Monday, September 26, 2022 at Moran and Goebel Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 10am on Tuesday, September 27, also at Moran and Goebel Funeral Home. Burial at Macon County Memorial Park will follow the service.
