Wanda Maude Jordan's Obituary
DECATUR - On this beautiful spring day, Saturday, April 3, 2004, our mother, grandmother, sister, and friend Wanda M. Jordan went on her journey with God to forever be in peace.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown, with the Rev. Dan Spruell officiating. At Wanda's request, there will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the family in care of Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, who is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be made to the family at www.moranandgoebel.com.
On February 2, 1932, Wanda was born to Ceford and Angie Wicker Jordan, one of ten children. She lived in Decatur most of her life, lastly residing in Fairhavens Christian Home. Wanda loved to do "Search-A-Word" puzzles and chitchat with her friends at Willow Heights Apartments. Her children and grandchildren were a joy to her, and she would always help them in any way possible.
Wanda leaves to fondly cherish her memories her daughters, Nancy Rucker and Becky Sites, both of Decatur; her brother, Delmar Jordan of Decatur; her sisters, June Bledsaw of Decatur; Geneva and husband Claude "Phil" Phillips of Bement. She also leaves her grandchildren, Brian Jordan, Suzy John Dodwell, Russ Tabby Rucker, Doug Rucker, Shane Stephanie Sites, and Amanda Sites. Six great-grandchildren, Chelsea and Craig Dodwell, Kenny Rucker, Jessica and Cerina Sites, and Devyn Sites survive as well. Her best friend, Shirley Green, will miss her dearly.
Preceding her in death were her parents, three brothers and three sisters.
The family would like to thank DMH Home Health & Hospice Services, Dr. Esparaz, Reverend Dan Spruell, Fairhavens Christian Home and all of the nurses and CNA's there who cared for and loved our mother, and those who kept her in mind in her time of need.
Grandma Wanda passed with her family surrounding her, and now she is finally at peace. No more pain. We all love you and will miss you very much. You gave a little bit of yourself to each and every one of us, and your fond memories will always be in our hearts.
Mom always had "Footprints In The Sand" near her, and now she is in God's arms.
"One night I dreamed I was walking
Along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints.
Other times there were one set of footprints.
This bothered me because I noticed that
During the low periods of my life when I was
Suffering from anguish, sorrow, or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints,
So I said to the Lord, “You promised me,
Lord, that if I followed You,
You would walk with me always.
But I noticed that during the most trying periods
Of my life there have only been
One set of prints in the sand.
Why, When I have needed You most,
You have not been there for me?”
The Lord replied,
“The times when you have seen only one set of footprints
Is when I carried you."
