Waymond Ledbetter's Obituary
Waymond Ledbetter, 94, of Decatur, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2025 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Waymond was born April 21, 1930 in Saint Louis, OK, to the late Marshall Holly Ledbetter Sr. and Myrtle Mae Henderson Ledbetter. Waymond graduated in 1948 from St. Elmo Community High School. He later married his soulmate, Marjorie Harman on September 17, 1950. Waymond was a long time member of Lakeview Baptist Church and later Calvary Baptist Church.
Waymond retired as a supervisor from AE Staley after dedicating 38 years 1 month to the company.
Some of Waymond’s loves in life were woodworking, bowling, camping, Nascar racing, country music and spending time with his family. Waymond and his wife were founding members of the Sta-Rolling Camping Club. After retirement Waymond and Marjorie joined Campers on Missions (COM) through which they participated in volunteer construction work on churches and church campgrounds throughout Illinois, Arizona and Texas for 25 years. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandpa, great grandpa and friend.
He is survived by his children: James Ledbetter of Decatur, Roger (Marie) Ledbetter of Maroa, and Sandy (Eugene) Guthrie of Des Moines, IA; 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marjorie, brother, Marshall “Holly” Ledbetter Jr., and daughter-in-law, Linda Ledbetter.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 21, 2025, at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be held the evening prior, from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, February 20, 2025, also at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Cancer Care, or Decatur Christian School.
