Wilbert C Forrest's Obituary
Wilbert C. Forrest was born March 6, 1928 in Camp Hill, Alabama to Susie Mae Farrow. He resided and attended school in Birmingham until he enlisted in the Army in 1946. He served his country for 2 1/2 years and was awarded The Army of Occupation Medal for his days of duty in Okinawa, Japan after World War II.
After he left the military, Wilbert moved to Decatur, Illinois where he met, fell in love with and married Winifred M. Davis. Together they had 6 spirited children. He worked at Tate and Lyle (formerly Staleys) for 25 years before relocating to Saginaw, Michigan where he worked for General Motors until retirement.
Wilbert lived a full life. A creative person; Wilbert loved to paint, sketch, and write poetry and short stories. He was politically astute and was very active with his bowling league. He loved nature, science and trivia (Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune).
Wilbert passed away at 6:38 pm November 20, 2021 at St. Marys’ Hospital in Decatur, Illinois. He was 93 years old. He was preceded in death by his mother Susie Mae Wells, his stepfather Leonard Wells, his grandparents George and Cherrie Farrow, his former wife Winifred M. Forrest, his eldest son Gary E. Humble (Derrick Lamont Frazier), his grandson Demetrian M. Forrest, his uncle Roosevelt Davis, and his life partner Beverly.
Mourning his passing are his son Peter L. Forrest (Peter Killian), his daughters Andria S. Latham, Paula C. Booker (Earnest Booker, Quincy Thompson), Jocelyn L. Forrest (Demetrian Forrest, Shayla Forrest, Chaz Forrest, and Megan Forrest), Suzet M. Forrest and his aunt Edna Davis. Wilbert was blessed to have 7 grandchildren and a host of great and great-great grandchildren.
