Wilbur was one of over 11,000 men who served their country in the 57th Bomb Wing in North Africa, Sicily, Italy and Corsica. 875 of them were Killed or Missing in Action. The 57th was a proud and skilled war machine which depended on all its people, skills and dedication. Wilbur Conrad, like all of us who flew and maintained the B-25 were dedicated to contributing to to the defeat of the Axis. We salute you Wilbur and hope the trip was not to bumpy.Victor Hancock, Editor, Men of the 57th. Richardson, TX US

We were so sorry to hear about Uncle Conrad. He was so special to me and I have many fine memories of him. As a young boy I can still remember Uncle Conrad lifting me up in the air. As a boy I really enjoyed going to the Railroad yard with him when I went to stay with you every summer. There are so many more cherished memories, too many to write here. I'm so glad you were able to get to know my family too.We made many plans to come there to visit and we are sorry we didn't make it back out to see you and the family again. We are missing him too.May God give you strength to face the coming days and comfort you as you recall your many fine memories. We are lifting you up in our prayers. We love you! Dear grieving family,My wife and I are very sorry for your tremendous loss and would like to express our condolences to the entire family. We cannot imagine the great pain and sorrow you are experiencing during this most difficult time. When we lose someone we love so dearly we are left with a very strong desire to see that person again. It's wonderful to know God has promised that we will see our loved ones who have fallen asleep in death. John chapter 5 verses 28 and 29 gives this wonderful reassurance: "Do not marvel at this because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life." What a marvelous hope!Once again we wish to express our condolences for your loss. And although we cannot erase the pain and sorrow you are feeling, it is our hope that this can give you a small measure of comfort. , NY US
