William "Bill" Richard Havener's Obituary
William “Bill” Richard Havener, 83, passed away at 3:28 P.M. on Tuesday (12-09-2025) at St. John’s Hospital Springfield, IL.
Bill was born on May 21, 1942, in Decatur, IL, the son of Otis Leroy Havener and Mable Marie (Chance) Havener. He married Karen Britton on November 4, 1978, in Decatur, IL. She preceded him in death on September 9, 2023.
Bill worked as a mechanic for several years, was a lifetime member of Decatur Trail Riders, NBHA, IBRA, loved horses and the outdoors, horse shows, barrel racing, traveling with Karen out west, and playing with the grandkids.
He is survived by his two daughters: Nanette Sue Havener of Beecher city, IL, and Lauren Colonius and husband D.J. of Taylorville, IL.; two grandchildren Kelsey and Kinsley; two brothers: Roy Gene Havener and wife Erma Jean of Mt. Zion, IL, and John Thomas Havener and wife Sherry of Mt. Zion, IL.; nine nieces and nephews including Leonard Havener who had a great relationship with his uncle Bill.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday (12-15-2025) at Moran and Goebel Funeral Home with a visitation one hour before the service. Graveside services will follow the funeral at Mt. Gilead Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one sister Mable Flesch and brother-in-law Robert Flesch.
