William Joseph "Bill" Brady's Obituary
Decatur- William ”Bill” Brady, 81, of Decatur passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2014 in Imboden Creek Living Center.
William was born August 8, 1933 in Pittsburgh, PA., the son of William J. and Golda (Doty) Brady. He was a graduate of St. Teresa High school class of 1951. He was the treasurer of his class, and wrote for the St. Teresa High school paper. William served his country proudly in the US Air Force. He also was a charter member of Holy Family Catholic Church. William worked as a business manager at St. Mary’s Hospital, with 35 years of service, of which he later retired from. He married Dolores Jean Harrington in Decatur, IL, on February 4, 1956. They shared 58 wonderful years together. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, especially at St. Teresa High school. He loved his years of coaching his children in basketball at Holy Family and baseball at South Shores Park.
Surviving are his wife Dolores Jean Brady of Decatur, son Robin (Valerie) Brady of Tipp City, OH; daughters Erin (Michael) Braye of Decatur, Julie (Chris) Hargrove of Decatur, Shawn (Mickey) Geller of Mt. Zion, Jean (Jeffrey) Zerfowski of Decatur; grandchildren Chad and Cody Hargrove, Jessica and Jordan Zerfowski, and Steven Brady; great grandchildren Colton and Sophia Hargrove, brother John Brady of Decatur, and sister Sue Senger of Decatur.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Patrick Brady, and sister Peggy Harting.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Saturday, September 20, 2014 in Holy Family Catholic Church with Very Rev. Joseph Molloy as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorials are suggested to the Holy Family Catholic Church.
