William Eugene "Bill" Thompson's Obituary
Decatur – William Eugene “Bill” Thompson, 84, of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2016, with his family by his side.
Bill was born December 28, 1931 in Decatur, the son of William H. and Ruth T. (Seaton) Thompson. He worked at Caterpillar in production time study until retiring in 1990. Bill was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. He married Virginia T. Keck on June 30, 1951 in Decatur.
Bill is survived by his wife, Virginia of Decatur; son, William (Christine) Thompson of Wichita, KS; daughters: Sharon Suttles, Mary Thompson and Gerianne Thompson all of Decatur; many grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; children: David, James, and Teresa; sister, Shirley and brother, Harold.
Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate his life will be at 1:00 pm, Friday, July 8, 2016, at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Rev. Richard Weltin, celebrant. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm, Thursday, July 7, 2016 in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home; vigil prayer service at 4:30 pm. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Decatur. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Thomas Catholic Church.
