William S. Cooper's Obituary
William S. "Bill" Cooper, 69, of Decatur, died on Tues. Dec. 7, 2004 in Manor Care Health Services.
Services celebrating his life will be 11 a.m. Sat. Dec. 11, 2004 in Bethel Bible Church, Pastor Jack Greenwood officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date.
Bill was born on Dec. 5, 1935 in Decatur, the son of Walter Dale and Ethel Shaver Cooper. Bill attended Decatur schools and received his G.E.D. while serving in the Air guard. He was a Korean War veteran and worked for over 30 years in the assembly dept. at Caterpillar before his retirement. Bill had also been employed at Wagner Castings and the Colonial Restaurant. He was a member of U.A.W. local 751, Gold's Gym, Bethel Bible Church where he served as head usher, a 32nd Degree Mason of the John C. Ellis Masonic Lodge #17 F & AM where he had served as past Worshipful Master. In his spare time Bill liked to fish, talk on the C.B. radio, cook and minister to the shut-ins. He married Angelia L. Cooper on Sept. 19, 1981 in Decatur.
Surviving is his wife, Angelia L. Cooper of Decatur; son, William S. Cooper, Jr. of Decatur; daughter, Robin Cooper of New York; brother, Walter Dale wife, Rosie Cooper of Decatur; sister, Kay husband, Arthur Sanders of Normal; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents.
