William "Red" Curtis Walker's Obituary
William “Red” Curtis Walker, 95, of Decatur, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018, at his daughter’s home in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Red was born October 15, 1922, in Decatur, IL to Haven L and Ruth L (Chenoweth) Walker. Red proudly served in the United States Army during WWII. He married Sarah “Dora” Mattingly on February 23, 1952 in Kentucky.
Red is survived by his daughter, Patricia Burge of Colorado Springs, CO; four grandchildren, Jason Burge, Monica Bussell, Mary Burge and Laura Burge; three great-grandchildren, Harvey Burge, Isadora Burge and Elijah Bussell; three brothers, Don Walker, Roy Walker and Shorty Walker; and two sisters, Mabel Williams and Alice Bray.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dora; and his son, William Curtis Walker, Jr.
Graveside services to celebrate the life of Red Walker will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Salem Cemetery in Decatur. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2018, at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home 2801 North Monroe Street, Decatur, Illinois 62526. Full military honors will be conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard, at the cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care, 2550 Tenderfoot Hill Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80906.
