William E. Danbury, Sr's Obituary
William E. “Papa bald head” Danbury 80 of Decatur died Tuesday February 22, 2005 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Funeral Services will be Private. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery at a later date. Moran & Goebel Funeral Home is assisting the family with these arrangements. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society in William’s name. William was born in Decatur, on February 21, 1925 the son of Martin Dean and Mary Teresa Sapp Danbury. He was a laborer working out of Local # 159 for over 47 years. He grew up attending Catholic grade schools in Decatur. He served his country during World War II, serving in the Army as a Field Lineman, receiving 4 Overseas Bars; European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 3 Bronze Battle Stars; Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal. He was an avid Saint Louis Cardinal Baseball Fan. He married Deloris Frakes in Decatur on July 2, 1950, she survives.
Also surviving include his children; William E. Danbury, Jr, Terry Danbury both of Decatur and Gary Danbury of Long Point, Barb Manso and husband Manny of Florida, Mary Haney and husband Steve of Decatur and Carol Wilcox and husband Timothy of Decatur; his brother Joseph “Pete” Danbury of Decatur; sixteen grandchildren and 10 great grand children.
William was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
