William E. Drischel's Obituary
William E. “Bill” Drischel, 92, of Decatur, died Tuesday, April 20, 2010 in Heartland/Manor Care Nursing Home.
Bill was born February 12, 1918 in Pattensburg, IL, the son of Thomas and Edith Huffaker Drischel. He was a member of Sts. James & Patrick parish where he ushered for many years at St. Patrick Church. He was a Lifetime member of the Knight of Columbus Council #577 and a 4 year Army Veteran, the 301st ordinance regiment 4th Battalion Companies 680 & 681st in the European Theatre. He retired from Black and Company. He enjoyed going camping, playing golf, cooking, and going on trips. He married C. LaRue Wallace on February 12, 1943 in Chamberburg, PA.
Survivors include his wife C. LaRue, daughter, Sandra L. Drischel of Decatur; son, Robert T. Drischel Candy of North Carolina and granddaughter, Crystal Drischel of North Carolina; nephew, Martin Wallace of Taylorville; nieces, Anna Marie Wyant Don of Assumption; Marjorie Carol Meads Jay and Mary Lou Wetzel Bob both of Taylorville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, George Wallace.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Saturday, April 24, 2010 in St. Patrick Catholic Church with Rev. Jeff Grant as Celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Assumption. In Lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to St. Patrick Church Building Fund or Heartland Nursing Home.
