William F. Fisher's Obituary
William F. “Bill” Fisher, 79, of Decatur, died Saturday, October 2, 2010 in Fair Havens Christian Home, Decatur.
He was born January 2, 1931, in Shelbyville, the son of William Everett and Grace A. Hilliard Fisher. A Navy Veteran, Bill was stationed in Japan during the Korean War. After the war he worked with his father doing home remodeling and carpentry work and retired from Caterpillar after 35 years where he worked as a Design Engineer. Bill loved to golf and work in the garden. He was a member of the Elks, American Legion and Decatur/Macon County Senior Center where he enjoyed playing bridge with his friends. Bill was married to Joanne “Beverly” Green Moses and together they had four children. He later married Sandy A. Diefenthaler on May 15, 1970.
Surviving is his wife, Sandy of Decatur; children: Becky Brent Locke of Decatur, Shirley Tom Lohmar of Mt. Zion, Kelli Craig Minor of Shelbyville, and Steve Deborah Fisher of Mt. Zion; eleven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, several nephews and many friends
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jean Carter.
