William Thomas Glover 83 of Decatur left this world for a better place on Christmas day Saturday December 25, 2004 in Fair Havens Christian Home.
Homegoing service will be 11:00 am Thursday December 30, 2004 in New Salem Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Tyrone Oldham officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service in the church. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery with Military rites conducted by the Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County. Mr. Glover was born on December 15, 1921 in Brinkley, AR, the son of Hugh and Blanche Glover, Sr. He retired from Western Union, Saint Louis after more than 40 years. He was a Member of New Salem Missionary Baptist Church. He was also a WWII US Army Veteran discharged with honors. He married Marie Oliver in 1945 in Brinkley, AR. To this union was born four daughters, Patricia, Deborah, Lois and La Verne. He was a Pullman Porter for the Bluebird Railroad and Chicago Transit Authority. He married Goldie Glover in 1970. She preceded him in death.
He leaves not to mourn but cherish fond memories, his wife Mattie Glover; daughters, Patricia Russell and husband Thomas of Florissant, MO; Deborah Glover-Johnson of Decatur; Lois J. Oldham and husband Rev. Tyrone of Decatur; La Verne Gude and husband Rev. Charles of Decatur; step-children, Teah E. Henderson of Decatur; Robert E. Henderson of Kansas City, MO; special grandson, Brian A. Glover; special nephew Frank William Privett; Special friend Marie Oliver of Decatur; fifteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and other loved ones.
His parents, one brother, Hugh, Jr and one sister, Evelyn, preceded him in death.
