When I did not receive Bill's Christmas greetings, I learned with sadness of his death in late May.
Bill and I were childhood friends and school mates. I remember with fondness his Army service, his engagement to Rita with the celebration at his mother's house on Fair Oaks Avenue in Madison; the wedding in Wausau in 1964 where I was pleased to be best man; his jobs in Rochester and then Illinois; and later the birth of his three children; and the untimely death of Rita.
Bill was a compassionate man of integrity, honesty and hard working--the backbone of American society. My wife Catherine and I will miss him.
