William Gude's Obituary
William Albert Gude, 72, affectionately called “Bo” or “Bill” of Decatur passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2013 in Lincoln Rehab Center of Decatur.
Bill was born on December 13, 1940 in Elkville, IL the son of Jasper and Vivian (Anderson) Gude. During Bill’s early years he worked as an OR technician in New York. He later moved to Decatur where he was employed by the Decatur Pride Taxi Service. He retired from the Illini Taxi Service.
Honoring Bill’s wishes cremation will take place at Graceland Crematory. No services are planned at this time.
Bill is survived by his sons, William and James of California; sisters, Ina Sanders of Elkville, IL; Frances Hill; Mary Williamson (Donald); Pat Newbon (Bishop Willie) all of Decatur, IL; brother, Charles Gude (Cathy) of Colp, IL; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, many cousins; long time best friend, Sheri Binkley; special friends, Mr. and Mrs. James Anderson; and many others. Bill became a friend to many while driving the taxi around the city of Decatur.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James and Donald; sister-in-law, Julia Gude; brothers-in-law, Leonard Sanders and Watson Hill
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Dawood; Dr. Qureshi; Dr. Hasnain; Dr. Ahmad; Dr Gram; Dr. Collins; Dr. Dekoj; St. Mary’s Emergency Room; ICU staff; 4th floor staff; Dialysis Nurse Gary; Safe Haven Hospice staff (Darla Arnett); Lincoln Rehab staff; and DaVita East Wood St. staff for all their very special care given to our brother.
The family also wishes to extend a special thanks to you all for your compassion that was shown to Bill during his illness.
