William P. Hagenbach's Obituary
William P. "Bill" Hagenbach, 84, of Decatur, died on Tues, Nov. 28, 2006 in Manor Care Health Services.
Mass of the Resurrection will be 1 pm Saturday. Dec. 2, 2006, in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Rev. Richard Weltin celebrant. Visitation will be Thurs. from 5 to 7 pm in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with a vigil prayer service at 4:30 pm. Burial will be 10:00 am Tuesday 5, 2006 in Camp Butler National Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard.
Bill was born on Sept. 14, 1922 in Rochester, NY the son of George Otto and Mary Kaiser Hagenbach. A U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, Bill received his B.S. and M.S. from the University of Rochester, and PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois. He was the Director of Environmental Engineering at A.E. Staley before retiring in 1986. Bill loved to play golf and actively involved his family in the game. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, American Chemical Society, U of I Alumni Association, Phi Beta Kappa, Tau Beta Phi, Sigma Xi, Phi Lambda Upsilon and past president of Southside Country Club. Bill married Ruth W. Landon in Aug. of 1946.
Surviving is his wife, Ruth of Forsyth; sons: Paul Maryrose Hagenbach of Decatur, Mark Sandra Hagenbach of Green Bay, WI; daughter, Patricia Kim Hazlehurst of Decatur; brothers: Robert Hagenbach of Rochester, NY and Gerard Rita Hagenbach of Largo, FL; grandchildren, Matthew, Michael and Christopher Hazlehurst, Alison Stevens, Ryan and Ben Hagenbach; great-granddaughter, Ana Hazlehurst; several nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and brother, George.
The family of William P. Hagenbach is being served by the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, 2801 N. Monroe St. Decatur.
