William Lamb's Obituary
Decatur-William (Doyle) Lamb, 81, of Decatur departed this life on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Heartland of Decatur.
Doyle was born on July 18, 1934, in Hagerstown, IN, the son of William and Mary Lamb. Doyle and his family came to Decatur in 1963 when he joined A.W. Cash Valve, where he worked for 39 years retiring as VP-Engineering. He was a graduate of Purdue University and a member of Kappa Delta Rho fraternity. He was a registered professional engineer in IN and IL. Doyle was a former President of the Decatur YMCA board, a President of the Decatur Sertoma Club, and a former President of the Stephen Decatur High School booster club. In retirement he was an active golfer, bridge player, and enjoyed delivering “Meals On Wheels”.
He leaves to cherish his beloved wife Margaret Ellen Lamb, children Bryan (Patty) Lamb (Charlotte, NC), Kevin (Kathleen) Lamb (Maumee, OH), and Jane (fiancé Hal Strough) Russo (Duluth, MN), nine grandchildren, and three great grandchildren; and a brother Dean Lamb (Bellevue, WA), and a sister Donna King (Hagerstown, IN). He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his brother (Duane Lamb) and sister (Doris Brown).
Memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church, 201 W. North Street, Decatur, IL at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 19, 2016. Visitation with the family will be in the library after the service. In lieu of flowers we would welcome a memorial for First United Methodist Church or Meals On Wheels, 247 W. Prairie Ave, Decatur, IL 62523.
