William "Bill" Michael Bullard's Obituary
William “Bill” Michael Bullard, 89, of Morrisonville, IL, passed away Thursday, April 20, 2017, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Bill was born July 11, 1927, in Moweaqua, IL to Ralph Elwin and Zeva Flo (Workman) Bullard. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. He married Dorothy Anne Browe on September 8, 1948 in Oklahoma City, OK. He received his Bachelor degree from Oklahoma State University followed by his Masters degree in Agriculture Education from the University of Illinois. He began his teaching career in 1949 in Morrisonville teaching Vocational Agriculture. Bill was the FFA advisor, Dean of Students and a lifetime mentor of students, friends and was loved and respected by all.
Bill owned and operated Bullard Pest Control. He was a member of Morrisonville American Legion Leslie-Reddick Post 721, VFW Post 4495, Master Mason, served on the Village Board, Morrisonville Fire Department and Ambulance and a trustee on the Farm Bureau board. He was involved with the Food Pantry and United Way. He received the Red Cross Hero Award, Illinois Agriculture Teacher of the Year and the Honorary American Degree. Bill’s greatest accomplishment was being a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dorothy; four children, Michael Ralph Bullard (Nancy) of Bluford, IL, Linda Dianne Johnson (Phil) of St. Joseph, IL, Susan Beth Wade (Rod) of St. Louis, MO and Charles “Chuck” Russel Bullard (Linda) of Morrisonville, IL.; four grandchildren, Jeff Bullard, Brad Wade, Jacob Bullard and Joshua Bullard; four great-grandchildren, Zach Bullard, Jeffrey David Bullard, William Nobel Bullard, Rayne Bullard; and half-brother, Larry Dean Bullard of Raymore, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Greg Bullard.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of William “Bill” M. Bullard will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at Morrisonville United Methodist Church with Pastor Dayle Badman, officiating. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the church with masonic rites conducted at 9 p.m. Burial will be in Morrisonville Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the William M. Bullard Foundation. Bill was such a caring and giving person and enjoyed helping people in need. The family would like to continue his legacy with this foundation.
