William "Bud" O. Taylor's Obituary
William “Bud” O. Taylor, 96, of Decatur passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 in Vonderlieth Living Center in Mt. Pulaski.
Bud was born on September 13, 1918 in Warrensburg, IL the son of Ben O. and Ada O. (Stroud) Taylor. He went to school in Latham and graduated from High School in 1936. He served his country proudly in the Army Air Corps from December of 1941 to October of 1945. He was baptized into the Seventh Day Adventist Church December 27, 1951 after 15 years in Chestnut Methodist Church. He farmed with his dad until 1948. He then worked for Marvel Schevler until 1954. He started working in drywall in 1954 he owned his own business and was self employed until he was unable to work retiring in 2005 He was a pathfinder leader for 20 years on and off. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and a church elder until his retirement in June of 1999.
Surviving are his sister, Helen Reynolds of Mt. Pulaski; nephew, Mike Reynolds of Lawrenceville, GA; niece, Sue Retinger of Columbia, MO; great-nephew, Jason Retinger; great-nieces, Michelle Dixon and Jennifer Hayford; cousins, Betty Horn and Bonnie Pope and several friends, and other family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and nephews Allen and David Reynolds.
Funeral service to celebrate Bud’s life will be 10 AM Tuesday December 30, 2014 in the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 540 N. Sunnyside Road, Decatur, IL. Visitation will be Monday 5-7 PM in the church. Burial will be in Illini Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials are suggested to Seventh Day Adventist Pathfinder Club or the VFW.
