William "Bill" Spencer Bonnell's Obituary
William “Bill” Spencer Bonnell, 88, of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016, in his home surrounded by his family.
Bill was born August 24, 1927, in Eldorado, IL to William Roy and Illa Estelle (Morris) Bonnell. He served in the Army from 1945 to 1947. He married Marilyn Miller on February 5, 1971 in Decatur. He worked at Wagner Casting as a Time Study for many years. Bill was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 684 and American Legion Castle Williams Post 105. He loved gardening and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marilyn; three sons, Mark (Trena) Bonnell of Decatur, William (Lynna) of Bloomington and Spencer (Sheila) of Oakley; one step-son, Kevin (Tammy) Trueblood of Decatur; two daughters, Sandra Bloch of Oreana and Linda (Danny) Maxedon of Bloomington; 19 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Larry (Carolyn) Bonnell of Oreana and three sisters, Mary Wallace of Alton, IL, Pat Kohlman and Janice Hammersley both of Evansville, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, John, Jack and Charles Bonnell; and his best friend, Charles Carter.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Bill Bonnell will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 22, 2016, at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2016, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park where military honors will be conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated later.
