William Sprague's Obituary
William Stanley Sprague, 92, of Decatur, IL passed away, Wednesday October 10, 2012 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
William was born on September 11, 1920 in Monticello, IL, the son of William and Bonnie McArty Sprague. He proudly served in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific. He received an American Area Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. William worked as a tool and die inspector. He enjoyed racing, baseball, fishing and hunting.
William is survived by his loving wife Wanda; son, Stephen ( Lauri ) Sprague of Auburn, daughter, Debbie Shaw of Decatur; step-son, Charles (Alice) Tarvin of Decatur; grandchildren, David and Angela Shaw; Stephen and Kelly Sprague; Lindsey Force; special step-great-grandson, Scott Casares; several other great-grandchildren; and many other loving family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his first wife Martha
Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois. Memorial donations may be directed to the World War II Memorial Foundation.
