Willie Davis Sr's Obituary
Willie Davis Sr., 78, of Decatur, IL was born November 18, 1930 in Brownsville, TN the son of Gilford and Emma Turner Davis and on Friday January 2, 2009 God called him home.
Homegoing service will be 11:00 am Saturday January 10, 2009 in Greater Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Byron Hansbro officiating. Visitation will be on hour before service in the church. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park.
Willie was a member of the Greater Mount Olive M.B. Church. He was a founding member and served on the Deacon board as chairman. He married Opal Pirtle on November 20, 1956, she preceded him in death. He leaves not to mourn but to cherish his memories four daughters, Emily Taylor of Decatur, IL; Vanessa Jerry Bracey of Milwaukee, WI; Lillie Shaquan Tyriq of Peoria IL; and Detra Davis of Canton, MI; three sons, Chris Davis of Springfield, IL; Willie Mary Davis of Memphis, TN; and Paul Davis of Decatur IL; twelve grandchildren, Kia, Kevin, Jeremy, Kendra, Leandra, Shalynn, Tyler, Brianna, Ashley, Akin, Ashanti, and Bomani; twelve great-grandchildren, Jateri, Ikeria, Courtney, Rainey, Nashaun, Devin, Ramiah, Zakorian, Miranda, Christopher, Cassie, and Cayla; one sister, Ida Nicholson of Decatur, IL; sisters-in-law, Lucille Bridgewater of Memphis TN; EarleneEdmond Taylor of Saginaw MI; Mae Francis Pirtle of Grand Rapids, MI; Molly Pirtle of Brownsville, TN; Vunner Pirtle of Decatur, IL; one brother-in-law, Percy McGill of Ann Arbor MI; and a host of nieces, nephews and close friends.
His loving wife, Opal Davis, his parents, brothers, Lloyd and Johnnie Davis, two sisters-in-law, Mattie Walker and Elizabeth McGill, and six brothers-in-law, William Hall, Ed, George, Robert, John Pirtle, and Ollie Walker, preceded him in death.
The family of Willie Davis Sr. has entrusted the care of their loved one to Moran & Goebel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2801 N. Monroe Street, Decatur, Illinois.
