Winifred Mae Forrest's Obituary
Decatur – Winifred Mae Forrest, affectionately known as “Winnie” by her friends and loved ones, passed away at 8:41 am Wednesday June 19, 2013 at St. Mary’s hospital after battling a long illness.
Winnie was born on July 25, 1930 in Decatur; the only child of George and Jesse Davis.
She joined St. Peter’s church at the age of 9 under the guidance and leadership of her mother Jessie and remained a member until illness prevented her attendance.
Winnie held a Mental Health Tech 111 position at Adolf Meyer for over 29 years in addition to serving as an Elk member for many years.
Winnie was twice married (Charles Humble and Wilbert Forrest) and is survived by her 5 children; Gary Humble , Paula Booker (Earnest Booker), Jocelyn Forrest; all residents of Decatur and Peter Forrest and Suzet Forrest (Los Angeles, California), 1 stepdaughter Andria Latham (Flint, Michigan), 7 grandchildren; Derrick Lamont Frazier, Demetrian Forrest (deceased), Shayla Forrest, Peter Killian, Quincy Thompson, Chaz Forrest, Megan Forrest and a host of great grand children and 1 great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandchild.
The family would like to thank Dr. George Duncan, the nursing staff at St. Mary's Hospital and the Dr’s and staff at Davita. With special thanks to Jennifer Mars, Beverly Holly, Terry Reed, Mark Mears and Alpha Omega transportation services.
She will be loved and missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Monday, June 24, 2013 at St. Peter's A.M.E. Church; visitation will be Sunday, June 23, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Her final resting place will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Decatur.
