Zelma Marguerite Taylor's Obituary
Zelma Marguerite Slane Michl Childress Taylor, 93, of Decatur passed away on Thursday May 27, 2010 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Taylor was born on August 20, 1916 in Jasper County the daughter of Perry and Dorothy Frazier Slane. She married Leonard Michl on April 12, 1936 in Jasper County he preceded her in death. She then married Harry “Shorty” Childress on August 7, 1940 in Toledo, IL he preceded her in death. She later married Harold Taylor on February 14, 1970 and he also preceded her in death. She was retired from Carson Pirie Scott & Company.
She is survived by her son, Dean Childress and wife Virginia of San Jose, CA; step-children, George Taylor, Stanley Taylor, and JoAnn Pontio, all of Decatur; daughter-in-law, Virginia Michl of Decatur; three grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, six great-step-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and five-great-great-step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three husbands and two sons L.E. “Mike” Michl and Billy Michl.
Visitation will be 2:00-4:00 pm Sunday, May 30, 2010 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10:00 am Saturday, June 5, 2010 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Graveside Service will be 1:30 pm Saturday, June 5, 2010 in Aten Cemetery in Hidalgo, IL. Memorials are suggested to American Diabetes Association.
