Agnes Jane Kolbeck's Obituary
Decatur-Agnes Jane Kolbeck, 80, of Decatur, passed away Monday, January 05, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur.
Agnes was born March 25, 1934 in Decatur, Illinois, the daughter of George and Sarah (Butler) Truebe. She graduated from St. John’s School of Nursing. She was previously employed as a Registered Nurse and Director of Pastoral Care at St. Mary’s Hospital retiring in 1994. Agnes was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and lifetime member of the St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary and the National Association of Catholic Chaplains. She also was a member of the Committee Against Domestic Violence and received recognition for her service to the DOVE Programs in Decatur and Clinton. She enjoyed many things in life including motorcycle touring with her husband Bob, quilting, knitting, and cooking. She married Robert L. Kolbeck April 2, 1956 in Decatur. They shared over fifty-eight years together.
Agnes leaves behind her husband Bob, children Sarah Weaver, Sue Kolbeck, and Tony Kolbeck all of Decatur, and Steve (Marta) Kolbeck of Kansas , brothers George Truebe and Bill (Silky) Truebe, grandchildren Matt Weaver, Mindy Weaver, Maggie (Mike) Thompson, Colleen Kolbeck, Ramie (Sam) Weisser, and Colton Kolbeck, and great-grandchildren Evan & Ellianne and Melanie.
Agnes was reunited in Heaven with her parents and sisters Mary Walker and Geneva Ackerman, and great-grandson Isaac.
Agnes was a very compassionate, loving, faith-filled woman who will be missed by many whose lives she touched.
Mass of Christian Burial to Celebrate Agnes’ life will be 10 a.m. Friday, January 9, 2015 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 3850 Lourdes Drive Decatur, with Rev. Rick Weltin, Celebrant. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with a vigil prayer service at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Decatur.
