Angeline Prince's Obituary
Angeline (“Angie”) Prince passed away in her home on Saturday, September 7, 2024. She was 93 years old. Angie was a first-generation Italian-American, born May 2, 1931, to Michael and Adeline (Romeo) Grosso, who had emigrated from Tricarico, Italy in the early 1900s. Angie was born and raised in Decatur, Illinois, where she was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, beloved spouse, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend. She attended St. Patrick Catholic School and graduated from Debcatur High School (now Stephen Decatur High School). Angie married Michael C. Prince on October 25, 1952. She was a long-time member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, where she was active in many ministries including greeting, funeral luncheons, and prayer chain. She also previously worked as the school office assistant. Angie will be greatly missed by her spouse, Michael, and her daughter, Michele (Joseph) O’Connor. She is also survived by her grandsons Patrick, Daniel, and Brendan O’Connor, of whom she was very proud, as well as her brother, Pete (Jane) Grosso, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Florence (Harold “Curly”) Moore, Carmella (Eugene) McConkey, Rose (Robert) Cantwell, and Pauline (E.C. “Chet”) Bradford. Visitation will be at 10:30AM on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at Noon. Interment will be at Boiling Springs Cemetery in Decatur.
