Barbara Ann Barger's Obituary
Barbara Ann Elam Barger, 72, died Monday, January 3, 2011 at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Funeral service celebrating the life of Barbara Ann Elam Barger will be 11:00 am Thursday, January 6, 2010 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with Dr. John Avery officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service in the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
Barb was born October 4, 1938 in Harrisburg, IL, the only child of Coy and Addie Dudley Elam. She was united in marriage to Daniel Dan Barger in Harrisburg on Sept 26, 1961.
Survivors include her husband, Dan Barger; daughter, Cindy Barger Avery and husband Pete; and daughter, Danette Barger Chapman and husband Tom.
Barb also loved her three grandchildren: Nathaniel Chapman; Alexandra Chapman Brownfield and husband Tyler; Arthur Avery; and one great-granddaughter, Madison Brownfield. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, DeAnn June and her parents.
Barb was last employed at Kohls Department Store where she was a sales associate for 16 years. Barb also spent many years working at Muffley School where she enjoyed children as the lunch and playground supervisor.
While they were young, Barb coached her daughters’ softball team. She enjoyed reading and crocheting, but especially the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grand daughter.
