Basil J. Johnson's Obituary
Basil J. Johnson "Shorty" 82 of Decatur died Thursday October 19, 2006 in Aspen Ridge Care Centre.
Funeral services celebrating Shorty's life will be 1:00 pm Monday October 23, 2006 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be 2:00 - 4:00 pm Sunday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park Harristown, IL with Military honors conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Foundation.
Shorty was born on August 23, 1924 in Newton, IL the son of Harold and Peggy Matlock Johnson. He worked for Wagner's Casting Company. He was a member of South Shores United Methodist Church and a United States Army Veteran during WWII. He married May Irene Elben on October 20, 1943 in Decatur, IL.
He is survived by his wife May Irene Johnson; son, Roger Johnson of Harristown, IL; daughter, Linda Oglesby and husband Michael of Decatur, IL; sister, Ruby Frizzell of Champaign, IL; eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, several, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Barbara Kay Craig, one brother, Dale Johnson and a grandson.
