I first met Bea when I moved into the apartment building at 341 Christine Drive in 1979. She was a kind, considerate, and busy lady. She worked full time at her job, faithfully served her church, and attended many civic events. One of Bea's primary concerns was the welfare of the children and families in the central Illinois area. She was the happiest when she was able to unite great couples with a child to adopt.I learned the word "altrusa" from Bea. She was committed to her friends in the Altrusa Club and enjoyed working on their projects and selling their cookbooks.I remember how Bea enjoyed inviting neighbors to her apartment for dessert and conversation during the Christmas season. Visits from out-of-state family members and out-of-town friends were treasured by Bea. She looked forward to your coming and was always sorry to see you leave. Her trips "back home" to North Carolina or Berea College were special times to her. When failing health required Bea to move to Lincoln Manor, she was missed on Christine Drive. Bea was a kind and caring member of our neighborhood. Decatur, IL US
