Bobbie Gene Mann "HEY GUY"'s Obituary
Bobbie Gene Mann “HEY GUY”, 77, of Decatur, passed away Monday, January 7, 2019 at his residence.
Bobbie was born September 27, 1941 in Decatur, the son of Emmett and Margie Suttles Mann. He married Clara Mann on September 29, 1972. She preceded him in death.
Surviving are his daughter, Jennifer (Shannon) Fisher of Decatur; a son, Scott Mann of Springfield; a step-son, Scott (Michelle) Muth of Decatur; numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; special friends: Kenneth Cribbs, Duane Jackson, B.J., and Tammy Butler; and a very special nephew, Stephen Mann. He was preceded in death by his parents, and nine siblings.
Bobbie was the longest serving political captain in the area. He served on the Democratic Committee, Partners in Education, Lincoln Board of Trustees; and member of Laborers’ Local 159 for 48 years in which he was president for four years. He enjoyed playing basketball with friends. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Illinois Fighting Illini men’s basketball fan. In 1965, he sold the first Ford Mustang in Decatur.
Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Moran and Goebel Funeral Home in Decatur. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday. The family request everyone to wear casual attire. Burial will follow the service at Graceland Cemetery in Decatur. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice.
