Carl L. McGehee's Obituary
Carl Louis McGehee, 61, passed away at home on December 26, 2025. Carl was born on March 25, 1964, to Jim and Rita (Tippitt), in Gurnee, IL.
After graduating from high school, he served in the Marine Corps from 1982 to1986, attaining the rank of Corporal. Carl graduated from SIU in Carbondale, earning a degree in Electrical Engineering. Carl worked for 30 years at ADM starting as an Electrical and Instrumentation Technician. He retired as a Process Automation Engineer in 2024. Carl married Maggie Dawson on April Fool’s Day 2005 in Decatur, IL. Carl enjoyed spending his free time boating, camping, and fishing at Keyesport, IL, with their campground family and friends on Carlyle Lake. He also enjoyed his remote fishing excursions, including Alaska and Canda, with his high school buddies. Carl cherished his roles as uncle to Kelani, Karl, and Kwentyn, especially sharing his love of the outdoors and attending their sporting events.
Survivors include his wife Maggie, brother Jim (Jill) McGehee, sister Kelly (Keith) Calloway, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father James, mother Rita, stepfather Merle Coffey, and their faithful, furry, four-legged friend, Zig.
