I have many happy memories of Aunt Jo. When I was a child she was always welcoming and entertaining. She'd take me to a movie and include me in any "horsey" activities that were going on. As a 12 year old, their wedding was the social highlight of the year for me. Her interest in fashion was a topic we had in common. Being the oldest of 7 children I enjoyed the undivided attention when I came to visit. As an adult she was interested in my view on serious topics. Rex and Eric were born in the same year and that gave us another connection as mothers. If she could be helpful, she would and did. There were so many skills that she exhibited with ease including sewing, cooking, hospitality, being a cheerleader for Uncle Merle and the boys, and being a gracious hostess. I spent a week in the large RV with her, Uncle Merle and Cousin James near Waynesville MO during a family trail ride/camping event. All the Bourn sisters and brothers were there. It was hotter than Hades, but we had a great time. Aunt Jo had a knack for being welcoming and inclusive and making many enjoyable memories. We were blessed to have her.Bess (Bourn) Desch
