Carolyn Joanne "Jo" Bourne's Obituary
Decatur – Carolyn Joanne “Jo” Bourne, 85, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2015 in Decatur.
Jo was born June 19, 1929 in Decatur, Illinois, the daughter of Walter E. and Lucille (Wendt) Baker. A member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Jo loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and taking care of her husband, Merle whom she married on July 9, 1950 in Decatur; he preceded her in death on June 27, 2004. Also preceding her in death were her parents; son, Rex; granddaughter, Sherry Lynn Bourne; grandson, Michael Ray Bourne and one sister, Delores Davis.
Jo is survived by her sons: Merle Bourne, Jr. of Mt. Zion, and Judd (Tiffany) Bourne of Decatur; daughter, Peggy Pence of Washington, D.C.; daughter in law, Kelly Bourne of Fort Worth, TX; grandchildren: Merle Bourne III, Summer Bourne, Sophie Bourne, Caitlin Bourne, Cody Bourne, Chad Bourne and Colton Bourne; brother, Earl Baker of Decatur; special nephews: John Bourne, Robert Lee Bourne and Daniel Bourne, along with many other nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial to Celebrate Jo’s life will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Very Rev. Joseph M. Molloy, V.F., celebrant. Visitation will be from 10 am until the time of the Mass in the church. Private interment will take place at a later date.
