Carolyn D (Ward) Peters' Obituary
Carolyn D. (Ward) Peters, 80, of Decatur, passed away Monday, August 13, 2012 at 2:20 p.m. peacefully in her home.
Carolyn was born January 12, 1932 in Melrose, Iowa the daughter of Frank and Catherine (Curran) Ward. Carolyn married the love of her life, Daniel T. Peters on November 15, 1951 at the Great Lakes Naval Academy. She retired from Illinois Bell Telephone Company and was currently employed at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Carolyn will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and wife, and a faithful and loyal friend to many. She lived life to the fullest and cherished time spent with her seven grandchildren and great grandson. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and Illinois Bell Pioneer Club.
She is survived by her loving children: daughter, Mary Kay (Mike) Markwell; sons: Daniel J. (Cindy) Peters and Martin J. (Kim) Peters; grandchildren: Ryan (Megan) Markwell and Blake Markwell, Jennifer and Katie Peters, and Carlee, Claire, and Daniel Peters; great grandchild, Matthew Glosser and one to be born March of 2013; sisters: Helen Bertram of East Moline and Judy (Wayne) Settles of Silvis; brothers: Leo Ward of Des Moines, IA and William Ward of East Moline; sister-in-law, Marna Ward of Florida; her best friend and sister-in-law, Mary Lou Johnson, and many other relatives, friends and close neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Mary Virnig and brothers: Donald, John, and Marty Ward.
Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial celebrating her life will be at 2 p.m., Friday, August 17, 2012 in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church; visitation will begin at 11 a.m. in the church. Burial will follow in Boiling Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made to American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
