Well said son. Thank you! I know Nana is beaming.
I remember that incident well! Several times when we thought we might lose her, she spoke of seeing Jesus Christ and her brother Jim. Uncle Jim was always waiting to help her walk through the gates when the time was right. I know he did that for her.
Thank you Heather and Paul Lee. She has left her mark on all of us. Everytime she visited she immediately started planning how she was going to see her family in Louisiana again. She told us often how she had the best sister in the world and loved Rose so much.
Thank you so much. We all appreciate your kind words.
Thank you Shirley. Her positive attitude was a result of her strong faith that saw her through nearly 7 years of living a full life despite cancer. We are all so proud of her and have learned valuable life lessons from her fight.
Thank you Peter. She so loved her work and her clients. Your kind words are most appreciated.
Thank you so much. Mom was so excited to see Ruth recently, and she truly loved her work and her clients. Thank you for sharing your thoughts of her.
Thank you for such a lovely sentiment Calvin. Mom and Dad both thought highly of the Wehrle's and the Woodards. Some of our best memories were shared with these families. Thank you both for your kind words.
Thank you for capturing with words what we feel in our hearts, Ryan.
My grandmother was an amazing woman. I think that's a good place to start."Grandmother" is what the dictionary defines our biological relation to each other, two steps down the bloodline. "Charlotte" was the name given by her parents. I need no name or word for her other than Nana.My Nana.My Nana who used a bathtub of sugar when brewing tea and bought bags of Cadbury eggs for Easter hunts to prove how overly sweet she was to all her grandchildren. My Nana who would compliment each dish her sons and daughters would bring together for Thanksgivings that spanned decades. My Nana who would throw her entire body backward when you'd make her laugh, and have a sly, warm cackle with her words that would make you laugh in return. My Nana lived through multiple wars, needing know fear with our rough-n-tough Air Force Papa to not just stand guard for her, but our entire nation. My Nana got to see many beautiful things in this world, how we've progressed as a collective human race with equal opportunities and civil rights. My Nana got to see travel across the country for family gatherings in years that experts and physicians had dismissed as time not be had. When given roughly six months, she piled on SIX YEARS of full living. Proof she really is ten times stronger than anyone could guess. My Nana saw weddings, births and deep friendships that we've spread as a family throughout the country. She is responsible for our expansive family consisting of military, television producers, financial advisors, social workers, distance drivers, mechanics, famous bootleggers, musicians, health care workers, skilled laborers, business owners, event coordinators, doctors, to briefly name just a few. We're an impressive pack of rogues and journeymen, indeed, but more than our career endeavors or job titles, we're focused on our family as means of proving the worth of her good name.My Nana is responsible for all this love we spread, and while her body has told her spirit it's time to ascend to greater realms, the dozens of us carry her around in our hearts everyday so she truly lives on.My Nana, grandmother Charlotte Long (Helmers), mercifully missed, forever loved and remembered.
