Cheryl Gillibrand-DeClue's Obituary
Cheryl Gillibrand DeClue, 65, of Sandwich, IL, passed away November 30, 2022 after a short battle with cancer. She was born December 27, 1956 in Decatur, IL to Ralph and Margaret Riedel. Cheryl graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1975 and went on to have a long and successful career with J.C. Penney.
In 1977, Cheryl married Ronald Gillibrand. They went on to have one son, Todd, and were married for 25 years before Cheryl was widowed. Cheryl then met Ronald DeClue of Cuba, MO and they were married October 23, 2010. They had a loving and steadfast relationship for the remainder of her days.
Cheryl's 43 year employment at J.C. Penney led her to meet many friends and live in several interesting places. She retired from the store in Rolla, MO before moving to Sandwich, IL in 2020 to be closer to her son and grandchildren. Being around her family was Cheryl's greatest joy and she loved spending time with her grandchildren baking, gardening, and crafting.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Margaret, and her first husband, Ronald. She is survived by her husband, Ronald Declue; her son, Todd (Heather) Gillibrand; her grandchildren, Sage, Rhys, Quin, and Jude; her sister Sharon (Mike) Taylor, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The visitation service will be held Moran and Goebel Funeral Home on Sunday, December 4, 2022 from 5:00 P.M. to7:00 P.M. and the Mass of Christian Burial will be December 5, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Decatur, IL.
