Chester Ambrose Crowe's Obituary
Chester Ambrose Crowe 91 of Oreana died Tuesday April 17, 2007 in St. Mary's Hospital.
Mass of the Resurrection Celebrating his life will be at 11:00 am Saturday April 21, 2007 in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Rev. Rick Weltin as Celebrant. Visitation will be one hour before service in the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial gifts suggested to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Chester was born January 27, 1916 in Assumption, IL the son of William Ray and Anna Pha McKinney Crowe. He was retired from Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 65 and was a 67 year union member. He was a charter member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He had a special talent for woodworking and made many unique gifts for his friends and family. He married Marjorie Fishburn on June 6, 1937 in Illiopolis. She preceded him in death in 1970.
Surviving are his daughters Sandy Niles Paul and Jenny Hornback Larry of Oreana; Carole deVries of Virden; Faye Smith Jerry of Mt. Zion; brothers, Robert Crowe Mary Helen of Springfield; William Crowe Pat of Brimfield; sisters, Marie Durbin of Peoria; Wilma Rappe of Springfield; Lucille Fishburn and Meda Jane King of Auburn; Imogene Hogan Don of Divernon; Phoebe Olivier George of Laguna Woods, CA; 28 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one daughter, Theresa Kimble, one son, Mike Crowe, one brother, Charles Crowe, one sister, Eleanor Walch, and two grandchildren.
The family would like to thank St. John's Hospice staff, St. Mary's Hospital and the entire 7th and 4th floor staff, Heritage Manor staff, Dr. Atluri, and Sister JoAn Schullian for their care and kindness during Chester's illness. They would also like thank their friends and family for their prayers and support.
