Dale Eckel's Obituary
Dale Edward Eckel of Decatur, IL, joined his dear wife in God’s arms on April 5, 2018 at McKinley Court, Decatur.
Dale was born August 27, 1925 in Lake City, IL, the son of Leah Irene (Weaver) and Everett Glenn Eckel.
He was a World War II Veteran from 1943-1946, assigned to the US Army Combat Engineers.
He married Joy Louise Hawkins on March 30, 1947, in Kansas, IL. They were married for 68 years.
He was a founding member of Maranatha Assembly of God.
He retired from J.C. Penney.
Dale is survived by his daughters, Sharon LeCates of Decatur, Marilyn Burton (Lester) of Charleston; grandchildren, Thomas Burton (Sarah), Sarah Rowe (Randy), Nathan Burton (Dawn), Megan LeCates; Larry Huckile; great grandchildren Zachary Burton, Sasha Perryman (Trey), Stephanie Rowe (Eric Oestreich), Christina and James Huckile, Robert and Aaron LeCates; Alexis, Liam, Jack, Owen Burton, and great-great grandson Corbin Slaymaker.
He was reunited in Heaven with his parents; wife Louise; son edward eckel; son-in-law Lee LeCates; brother Robert Eckel; Grandchildren Terry LeCates and Linda (LeCates) Huckile.
Visitation will be from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Monday, April 9, 2018 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Funeral services to celebrate Dale’s life will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at the funeral home with Rev. Doug Lowery officiating. Burial to follow at Marrow Bone Township Cemetery in Bethany, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be made to Maranatha Assembly of God.
The family would like to thank, Dr. Kola, Dr. Mahmood, Dr. Kureishy and the staff of McKinley Court for the excellent care he received.
