Dennis Tyus' Obituary
Decatur 'Dennis L. Tyus, 55, of Los Angeles, CA formally of Decatur entered into eternal peace at 11:15 AM on Friday, June 22, 2012 at the Lincoln Rehabilitation and Health Care center in Decatur.
Visitation will be Saturday June 30, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Home going Celebration will immediately follow the visitation at 11:00 AM. Reverend Mark Tyus will officiate.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery and will conclude with the 'Flight Home' ceremony.
Dennis was born July 30, 1956 in St. Louis, MO, to Fred and Virginia Tyus. Dennis was a devoted educator and taught computer science for 22 years in the Los Angeles Unified School District and was known to have a gift to help troubled kids through education. Dennis was also a member of the Los Angeles Unified School District Association for School Teachers. Dennis received various certifications from Comp TIA, Microsoft, and Cisco including A+, MCSE, CCNA, CCNP and had passed the CCIE written exam.Dennis looked forward to coming home for Christmas every year so that he could spend time with family and play the White Elephant game.
He leaves to cherish fond memories, his parents, Fred and Virginia Tyus Sr. of Decatur, IL; siblings, Wilma Garrett (widowed) of Decatur, IL; Regina Stevens (Craig) of Decatur, IL; Izola Tyus of Bloomington, IL ; Fred H. Tyus Jr. of Indianapolis, IN; Brenda Bond (Curtis) of Indianapolis, IN & Michelle Williams (Roy) of Toledo, OH; also a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his infant brother, Mark Tyus.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Lincoln Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Decatur, DMH Hospice and Dr. Im and Dr. Eskandari of Kaiser Hospital of Los Angeles, CA for the care he received.
