Mr. Schwalbe greatly enriched my life. Little did I know that the skills he taught me in typing class would be so important to my career. It was unquestionably the most beneficial course in high school. He was tough and fair. I have thought about my time in class many times over the past 30 years and remembered him fondly.I was sorry to hear of his passing, but I'm grateful he invested his time in my life. The last time I was in Decatur I stopped by to tell him thanks for his contribution. I had Mr. Schwalbe for a teacher several times at Eisenhower High School in the mid 80's, and he was a favorite teacher of mine.
